Lenovo IdeaCentre Horizon Table PC lets you play Angry Birds while you eat
CES 2013 is going down in Las Vegas this week, and with it comes a host of new Windows 8 mahcines of all shapes and sizes. Perhaps the oddest of them all however is the Lenovo IdeaCentre Horizon: at a glance, it’s a 27-inch touchscreen all-in-one PC. But it can also be folded down to use as a “table” PC, and even taken around thanks to an in-built battery. Is this the world’s largest tablet?
The Lenovo IdeaCentre Horizon’s epic touchscreen sports a full HD resolution for pin-sharp visuals, and is powered by Intel’s blazingly fast Core i7 processor. It can be used regularly on a desktop, but also be folded down and carried about as a giant tablet – it’s battery is good for two hours on a charge.
It’s the “table PC” experience that’s got us most interested though: when the screen is parallel to the floor, Lenovo’s Moon Dial layout kicks in, letting you swipe, drag and tap through all your apps, moving things around like pieces of paper on a desk. You could even play Angry Birds this way by just pulling your finger back and firing.
Yes, it’s a lot like Microsoft’s original Surface computer (Not the recently released Windows tablet), the touchscreen table it showed off in shops and exhibitions for years. But it’s also going to be available to buy soon: the Lenovo IdeaCentre Horizon will go on sale this summer for $1,699 (Around £1,060).
